When a recent competition winner contacted us with a desire for a made to measure Steamer Chair we leapt at the challenge!

Our client approached us with two things... 

A lovely £50 voucher that she had won in a recent competition and the challenge of creating a steamer chair that actually fitted her. This is a common problem as most furniture is created for people that are around 5' 8" and where the legs and torso are proportionate. I hasten to add that I too fall into this category!

We had a great quality vintage chair within our store so we invited the client to come and have a look. At once we could see the issue and so set about work that involved shortening the chairs length as well as increasing the reclining angle of the back.

The chair was totally disassembled and each component part cleaned, sanded and double stained in the usual Tukosawa Creative way.

After the brass fittings were individually cleaned and polished we set about reassembling the chair ensuring that it was balanced as it is typical with older pieces that a certain amount of twisting can occur to the frame. Both the client and us are very happy with the results especially as her first comment was how comfortable it was!
